Our Vision

Nurture science minded youths to champion scientific development strides in global development initiatives.

Our Mission

Provide enabling amenities to youths who exhibit scientific talents and ambitions to pursue careers in tertiary institutions.

Our Goal

To promote persons/students that exhibit talents in the sciences in Sierra Leone, particularly Kono District, Eastern Province to ascertain academic and professional carriers in Science and Technology for nation building.



  • To identify secondary school students in Kono District with the potentials to excel in the sciences.
  • To provide scholarships/financial assistance to primary, and secondary school students who have the potential to excel in the sciences until they graduate in their respective institutions.
  • To provide scholarship/financial assistance to students in Kono District who successfully passed public examinations and are eligible to enter tertiary institutions to further their education.
  • To facilitate the establishment and implementation of science clubs in Secondary Schools in Kono and to decentralize such initiatives to other schools across the nation.
  • To establish and implement “After School Science Save Havens” for students and their tutors to interact and be capacitated.
  • To promote science consciousness among students, teachers, parents, and related institutions, agencies, and organizations in the TOMGBASFO catchment areas of implementation.
  • To conduct internal and external science talent contests, and quizzes among students and schools.
  • Collaborate and network with INGOs, NGOs, CBOs and public sectors to provide sustaining services to both eligible students and parents/guardians during their tenure in actualizing their science pathways in tertiary institutions.
  • Establish and implement a Science Alumni Association for beneficiaries from the TOMGBASFO initiatives.


Meet the Team

The Foundation is registered as a national non-governmental organization with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Sierra Leone, West Africa. TOMGBASFO is governed by an Advisory Board administratively supported by the Secretariat Team.

Prof. Thomas Gbamanja

Founder & CEO

The founder, Professor Sahr P. Thomas Gbamanja, is a Professor of Science Education and Curriculum Studies, an animal physiologist, currently Deputy Vice Chancellor a.i. Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.  He is also Chairman, Education Board, Chairman, Polytechnic Council of MMCET, and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Makeni.  He was Chairman of the Presidential Gbamanja Commission, Sierra Leone .  Professor Gbamanja has taught pure science, and science education at all levels of education in various countries.

Mrs. Hawa Gbamanja

Deputy CEO

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria, and a diploma in Secretarial Studies from the Illinois Commercial College, USA.

Mr. Tamba Amadu Gbamanja

Board Member

Mr. Tamba is a technical consultant for HIV/AIDS at UNAID in Freetown, Sierra Leone. He was a former public health consultant in the health department at Michigan State. He holds a M.P.H from the University of Toledo, USA.

Mr. Sahr Arthur Ngekia

Executive Secretary

Mr. Ngekia received his Masters degree in Business Administration from Njala University and a BSc in Economics from the University of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Sahr Thomas Gbamanja

Technical Consultant

He is the operations Manager at Sierra Wifi, Freetown, former technical operator at Fibre Optic, Sierra Leone. Sahr hold a BSc Mechanical Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

  Mr. Tamba Francis Morsay

Public Relation Officer

He is the IT officer at the University of Sierra Leone. He holds a BSc in Information Technology from the University of Sierra Leone.
